Twin Peaks

We finally had our one-year pediatrician appointment today, so I'll use it as an opportunity to update you on Hadley and Leila's progress! We're still feeling the effects of prematurity, as the girls are behind developmentally in some areas, but it's nothing we're concerned about. It's obvious to me that they're consistently learning new skills, and that's the most important thing.

(Hadley/Leila -- working on standing!)

At 12 1/2 months, Hadley:
  • weighs 18 lbs 0 oz (4th percentile)
  • is 29" tall (45th percentile)
  • has a head size of 46 cm (75th percentile)
  • can get from laying to sitting (new within the last few days)
  • is getting SO close to crawling! Expect video within the next week or so!
  • can feed herself and hold her own sippy cup
  • loves to imitate voices and sounds, but hasn't officially had a first word
  • spends her time emptying the toy box and laundry basket, clapping her hands, and playing peek-a-boo with us, Leila, or even herself
At 12 1/2 months, Leila:
  • weighs 18 lbs 3 oz (6th percentile)
  • is 29" tall (45th percentile)
  • has a head size of 46 cm (75th percentile)
  • crawls everywhere and gets into everything!
  • is trying to pull up while holding onto something
  • can feed herself and hold her own sippy cup
  • waves goodbye
  • loves to scream for fun
  • spends her time unplugging the computer, "helping" empty the dishwasher, and navigating underneath the dining room table
At 12 1/2 months, Mommy and Daddy:
  • are feeling so much freedom, now that the girls are feeding themselves! A parent could get used to this!
  • spend a lot of time singing action songs like "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Open, Shut Them"
  • are learning how to change diapers on toddlers that like to roll over and/or crawl away
  • try to keep Hadley from being jealous because she's not crawling while simultaneously keeping Leila from unplugging the computer ... again
  • love to watch our baby girls grow and learn!
