Piano Lessons

(I can't believe nine days have passed since I posted ... time just keeps going faster and faster! The girls are back to 100% after being sick, and I'm back to enjoying my happy babies. Great!)

We spent last weekend at my parents. Tony climbed his second
fourteener with my dad, my cousin and her boyfriend, and a group from Dad's church. (His pictures are on his Facebook page if you're friends with him.) I stayed home with Mom, of course! One of my favorite parts of the weekend was seeing Leila learn to pull herself up to the piano so that she could play the keys. Hadley couldn't pull up, but we stood her there, and she enjoyed it just as much! (Leila purple, Hadley brown)

In other news, Leila has her THIRD tooth! Apparently, they're extremely late teethers, but we've been assured all of their teeth are there. :) She's also cruising around furniture, and getting brave enough to let go and stand on her own for a few seconds. Hadley continues to impress us with her speed in crawling and her repertoire of sound effects. They've added "hi" to their vocabulary, and love to greet us with a huge "HI!" in the morning and after naps. What a joy!

Welcome, Springs Bargains Readers!

I didn't know when this would be coming, but I'm honored to have a guest post on Springs Bargains today! Tony, Hadley, Leila, and I welcome all of you who have never visited me before!

Won't you come in and stay for a while? I have links to the right, telling our story from the beginning. And be sure to leave a comment -- I'd love to hear from you!

Waking Up Is Hard To Do

Well, the girls are sick. I'm thinking colds, but it's been going on for over a week now, so maybe allergies? Regardless, I'm sick of them being sick. Anybody who thinks having twins would be hard should definitely think that right now! I'm trying to pull together my little shreds of sanity to make it ... and of course they make me happy with the littlest things. Like these photos of my little ladies' bedhead! Minnesota Twins (and their family, too!)

As I mentioned here and here, Tony's cousin and his wife have twin boys who are about two months older than our girls. We have the only sets of twins in the family history (that I know of), so it's pretty cool that they're so close together in age! Of course, we were thrilled to have them visit us while they were vacationing in Colorado last week -- and have the twins meet the twins for the first time!

Can I tell you how impressed I am with Brian and Sarah's parenting skills? They have five boys, and those boys are some of the smartest, most polite little guys I've ever known! Not only that, but we experienced a connection with Brian and Sarah that I have never experienced before -- that twin parents connection that other parents of multiples tell me about. There are some things that singleton parents will never understand -- like shuffling babies from parent to parent in order to get into the swimming pool (it's kind of like solving a Rubik's cube), being literally climbed by two babies who are trying to get your cupcake, and having two babies dissolve from tiredness at exactly the same moment. How many times have you seen two sets of spouses having a great conversation while trying to eat AND all holding wiggling one-year-olds? It felt like home. :)

AND, check out the great gift they brought -- pink Twins hats for the girls! We'll have to work on keeping them on their heads. :)

I'm sad that I didn't get a picture of all of us ... we'll just have to get together again!

Summer Summary

This is going to be a stream-of-consciousness post. I have no plans ... I just want to update everybody on our last couple of months!

The girls are 14 months now! In the time since their birthday, you've seen that Hadley started crawling, and you know that Leila is pulling up. Also, Leila is climbing! We don't have any stairs at our house, but we get plenty of practice at the playground and friend's houses.

The BIG news is that both of the girls are saying their first word -- "done"! They use it when they are finished drinking from their sippy cups and sometimes when they're done with a meal. Leila says "dut", but we know what she means. :) We are teaching them a small amount of sign language, and they use the sign for "all done" and "more".

We have a few new toys, and their cars have become a new favorite. Unfortunately for them, they haven't figured out how to go anywhere ... but they like to sit and play with the gadgets.

Now that the girls are mobile, we spend a lot of time outside. Sometimes we go to the playground, but most of the time I just open the front door and we all spill out onto the porch and front lawn. It's a great place for Hadley to work on standing ... and for Leila to eat wood chips, apparently. :)

On a night when Tony and I were too tired to play referee by the bathtub, we gave the girls a quick sink bath. So stinkin' cute!
