We just ended a lovely couple of weekends with Tony's family, who were here on their annual vacation. We're always sad to see them go. Hadley and Leila really enjoyed their grandparents, uncle, aunt, and cousins as well. They learned all of their names and played hard, all day, every day. I'm expecting some long naps as they recover!
Here's a video from a couple of weeks ago that I've been meaning to share. Here's the transcript:
Hadley: (fake) Ow!
Leila: You okay, ya ya? (I don't know what that last word is.)
I can't decide if I've forgotten how active babies are in the womb, or if this one is crazy active compared to the twins (or if the twins would have moved around this much if they had any space to move around!). Anyway, little gal moves around a ton -- sometimes for several hours at a time. I'm sure I'll miss it when she's born!
Today, I'll just share a few of my favorite pictures from this month. We've been spending as much time outside as possible. I can't remember what it was like to spend most of our time indoors last winter! (Hadley / Leila)
We did have our 2-year pediatrician appointment this week. Looks like the girls are around the 15th percentile for weight and the 50th percentile for height. AND, for the first time ever, they actually ranked "advanced" in their gross motor skills! Just come over to our house and watch them scale the rocks in our neighbor's yard -- you'll believe it!
Random side note: the 2-year safety pamphlet from the doctor's office actually says "remove old refrigerators in your yard". Seriously? :)
First of all, thank you to the 102 people who voted in our poll! I still don't believe that over a hundred people care about our life choices this much. :) The final result, with a count of 52 - 50, was that we should find out! I really truly thought that having a surprise would win, but finding out sneaked ahead in the end.
Secondly, and most importantly, introducing the little person who has already made an imprint in our hearts ...
OUR LITTLE GIRL!
The bottom one is a picture of the picture, so it's not great, but you get the point. :) The ultrasound tech actually said, "that's the most convincing set of girl parts I've seen in a while!" Ha! Unfortunately, she was facing my back, so even though we saw her beautiful face, it was so quick that we didn't get a picture. Hadley was like that at my halfway ultrasound, too. I guess that's where my babies like to hang out!
Some other highlights of the ultrasound:
* She weighs 1 lb 5 oz
* She's so big that they're talking about moving my due date up a week -- for the second time! Apparently Tony and I make a super breed of babies. :)
* She's developing and growing perfectly
* I'm carrying her well! (This was a relief for Tony and I, since my cervix was dangerously short with the twins.)
Tony and I couldn't be more thrilled, of course! (I'm especially thrilled that I can be frugal and use the clothes, etc. that we already have!) :) We're looking forward to our third little lady's arrival with joy and anticipation!
Wow. You guys, this is the worst kind of suspense. As I write, our poll on whether Tony and I should find out the gender of the baby is separated by ONE VOTE. And almost 100 votes have been cast! Can you believe that at least three of my family members have posted the link to my blog on Facebook, campaigning for people to sway the vote in their direction? Such a blast. :)
Just a reminder: voting closes sometime on July 4th. I think it's around noon, but I can't remember. Also, since I didn't foresee that voting would be this close, I'm going to add this: if there is a tie, Tony will be the tiebreaker. Neither of us has voted, honestly!
We'll keep you posted!
Since I can't stand to leave a post without pictures, I'll add this one of our family from our two-year photo shoot of the twins. Isn't my sister Paula awesome?
